OUR MISSION
Excellence in American Education is a grassroots initiative dedicated to promoting the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Social Studies. These standards reflect a commitment to academic rigor, historical accuracy, civic responsibility, and the enduring values that define our nation. We believe Texas' Social Studies TEKS should be a national model for restoring excellence in American classrooms.
WHY THE TEKS MATTER
The Texas Social Studies TEKS:
Ensure students learn comprehensive and truthful U.S. and Texas history
Emphasize constitutional government, liberty, and personal responsibility
Highlight free enterprise economics and civic engagement
Encourage understanding of Western Civilization, faith, and foundational values
Are developed by a diverse group of Texans, including educators, parents, and subject-matter experts
These standards do not indoctrinate. They educate. They prepare students for informed citizenship and future leadership.
WHAT WE SUPPORT
Continued backing of the TEKS by the State Board of Education (SBOE), Texas Legislature, and the public
Strong implementation across all Texas school districts
Resistance to ideological rewrites that dilute academic integrity
Western civilization and the distinctiveness of the American experiment
